The Second Annual Acosta Foundation Bass Fishing Tournament will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at the south landing of Chicot State Park, 3469 Chicot Park Road in Ville Platte. Entry fee is $100 perboat with two participants allowed per boat. Registration is availableonline at www.theacostafoundation.org or on the day of the tournament. Boats will launch at safe daylight from the south landing of Chicot Lakeand the tournament will continue until official weigh-in at 3:00pm. All proceeds benefit the charitable work of The Acosta Foundation. Prizes are as follows: $2,000 for first, $1,000 for second, and $500 for third. We will also have a cash prize for biggest bass. $10 from everyentry will supply the prize money for biggest bass. Each person whoregisters in advance will receive a free t-shirt. To be guaranteed a t-shirt,advance registration is recommended. T-shirts will be available on the day of the tournament, but sizes and supplies may be limited.

The 5k color run/walk will be on April 20th starting at 9:00am at Chicot State Park in Ville Platte. Pre-registration is currently available online at www.theacostafoundation.org. The first 100 people who register in advance will receive a free t-shirt. Adult pre-registration is $25 and children's pre-registration is $15. Event day registration is $35 for adults and $25 for children. All proceeds raised will fund Savoy Indigent Patient Support (SIPS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Mamou, Louisiana and affiliated with SavoyMedical Center, a Christus managed property. SIPS provides travel and lodging assistance to cancer patients who are traveling for cancer treatments. For more info, call 337-831-9912.

St. Alphonsus will hold their church fair on April 20-21 on the church grounds in Hessmer. The fair will begin after 4 pm Mass on Saturday - kicking off with fun events, games, bingo, a silent auction, food, and more. Don't miss the live music from 7-10 pm. On Sunday, the fun resume starting at 11 am. There will bechicken or pork dinners available for purchase at $12 per plate (see church office during business hours or any Knights of Columbus member for tickets).
